Action for PS CS2 and higher. Not tested in any other version. (Action is not required for styles to work, it is an extra added to create elements.)
I had originally started this as an action but quickly realized that creating a style set allowed for much more versatility and flexibility for the end user. I would've needed to create 28 actions to achieve what can be done with one style set and changing the look is simply one quick click.
Style set contains 28 unique styles. These styles were created with the four included sand textures but can be used on any sand texture that you have. They work best over lightly colored, lightly textured backgrounds. The styles themselves completely turn off your original layer and blend it into just about any sandy background you use. Some of the styles have a sand pattern overlay but this can easily be turned off if you wish to use your own sand textures.
The very simple action then takes those styled layers, cuts and blends the sand background into it while maintaining and preserving the bevels and shadows to create a separate, flat element that you can then save as a .png file. Instructional .txt file is included. Action doesn't have to be run if you don't wish to create separate .png files with the styles applied.
Please note that the action is designed to be paired and used with my sand styles and using it on any other layers or items may create an undesirable result. Styles can be used with any sandy texture, even a photograph of the beach. You don't need to do anything special to the layers you apply them to. They can be any color or texture. Each style is different, so you can try multiple looks to achieve something that works with your own backgrounds.
Commercial, personal and scrap-for-hire use is okay with unrestricted use. You may create elements for resale with these textures, styles and action. The only thing that I ask is that you not resell this as a set or sell the individual styles or textures and claim them as your own. |
